An August wedding on a hot day next to the Red River in Moorhead – ya think it was a little humid? Well it was but that was the only part of Christine and Casey’s wedding day that was below par. The beautiful home of Casey’s parents was a spectacular backdrop for their day. The entire day had an intimate feel regardless the number of people that attended. The joy everyone shared is wonderful!

This year, Dave and I have been so lucky to have wedding couples choose some really awesome locations for their wedding day. Kelly and Tom were no exception. With three short months of summer, the Grand Forks couple decided to have their wedding in the heart of lake country. We had a great start to the day at Kelly’s parent’s lake home on Pelican Lake. They were married at St. Mary of the Lakes (just off Pelican Lake) with a reception just down the road at Fair Hills Resort.

Ame & Sean

Beautiful day! Torrential rain! Beautiful evening!

That’s the short version of Ame and Sean’s wedding day at Fair Hills Resort on Pelican Lake. The longer version starts with great weather for portraits with Ame, Sean and their kids all around the resort. The torrential rain portion of our day was just prior to the ceremony but the weather cleared in time for a great celebration under the tent.

Between the funky weather and the great location there are way more photos here than usual … enjoy!

Lynn & Briar

Saturday isn’t the only day for weddings anymore. With competition for ceremony and reception venues we see more Friday and sometimes Sunday weddings. Lynn and Briar were our first ever Monday wedding right after Christmas.

Lynn was gorgeous in her simple dress and Briar added a lot of personality to the standard tux. Warm light flooded Trinity Lutheran during the ceremony which was a real bonus for a winter wedding. The reception at the NDSU Alumni Center was very intimate – it felt more like a fun family dinner than 200 person party.

It was a great day – thanks for letting us be a part of it, Lynn and Briar.

It was a gorgeous fall day recently when Melissa and Landon were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. The low, fall sun shown through the stained glass windows most of the afternoon and created great light. Melissa looked fantastic in her dress and the bridesmaids were awesome in classic black.

The entire day was a great celebration and ended with high energy reception and dance at the Courtyard. Congratulations Melissa and Landon!

Maranda & Josh

Thumper Pond in Ottertail, Minn. is always a great location for a wedding and reception. Maranda and Josh’s celebration was there on a great Saturday and the lovely Katie Lewis joined me to document the fun. The pond and fountain behind the ceremony location, huge windows to catch the setting sun and decorations done just right.

And a cute pup catching a nap on mom’s jacket!

What great locations for a wedding! Ellen and Wesley had their ceremony lakeside at her grandparents’ lake home near Detroit Lakes, Minn. and a reception at the Fireside Inn. The weather couldn’t have been better and Josh and I had wonderful light to play with all day.

May is my favorite month. Everything is renewed, green and yet still cool and bug free. Maggie and Jon were married on May 30th and with all their fresh, clean details and gorgeous wedding party and family, it was held in the most perfect month.

I’m always suprised when a couple can plan and wedding from afar, and Maggie & Jon certainly pulled this one off beautifully. Moreover, Maggie was finishing up school and moving from the east to west coast all while planning her wedding day.

Ann Arbor and I started off the day at Maggie’s parent’s home in Moorhead. The wedding was held at the always beautiful Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead with a reception at the Ramada Inn in Fargo. We also made a couple stops at Concordia College, just a hop, skip and jump away from the church.

It really was a perfect Saturday in May when Laura and Brant were married at Arrowwood Resort near Alexandria, Minn. They’re a great couple who just can’t get enough of each other. The outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour offered us great light and backgrounds that we don’t normally get indoors.

It was hard to choose just a few of the great moments to post but the slideshow at the end has many more.
