Another award. Another award. Another award.

So, yeah…Britta won three more awards in the international quarterly WPJA contest. What else is new, right? She’s only one of the top-20 WPJA shooters on the planet so we shouldn’t expect any less, eh?

But seriously, her hard work and amazing talent has brought her recognition from judges that are some of the top photojournalists in America yet again. Isn’t this the type of photographer you’d want to trust capturing your wedding day?

Fifth Place – Groom Getting Ready

The judges said, “I haven’t got a clue what is happening in this photo but the beauty of a great photo is that we don’t need to know because the image has a voice of its own. That’s how moments work.”

Ninth Place – Reflections

How’s this comment from one of the judges? “Here’s a first. I’ve judged tens of thousands of top level wedding photos from some of the best photographers on the planet but I can’t remember ever seeing this scene. But, the onus is on the moment. Thus, not only is this photo unique (at least to my experience) it also includes the bride and groom. Mostly I like the ’seeing’ of this scene combined with its wonderful execution by the photographer.”

Sneak Peek: Sara & Matt

We’re stilling recovering from the Saturday’s explosion of energy that was Sara and Matt’s wedding. The bridal party was dancing on the trolley before they even turned on the music and the rest of the night was a shout-out-loud good time with Dueling Pianos at the dance.

As the weather turns colder and the leaves are gone it’s getting difficult to look at our wedding photos from earlier this fall. Remember short sleeves and green leaves?

Kristen and Kyle had a beautiful wedding in downtown Fargo at First Presbyterian Church and reception at the Avalon. The church is absolutely one of the best places in town to photograph a ceremony and Kristen and Kyle looked great in this backdrop.

Such a fun couple and cool locations. We had a great time, Kristen and Kyle!

Anna was such a ray of sunshine when she visited us in the studio a few weeks ago. She is so cute, so smiley and has the most awesome hair! Oh my goodness. I couldn’t help by stare at her long, beautiful locks of hair… pretty impressive for only being 6 months old. And to top it off, she has pretty awesome parents too!

Did you know it has been 5 years since we photographed Kim & Matt’s wedding. I can’t believe it!

Just a few short years later the family of two has grown to a family of four… and we can’t wait to watch this family grow even bigger.

We had a bit of rain during our August session at the new Trollwood Performing Arts Center in Moorhead. But, that didn’t stop these boys from having a fantastic time.

Sam and Parker were finally able to walk under the Concordia bell tower after their wedding last Friday. The legend is if you walk under it before you’re married, then you’ll never get married. Thank goodness they waited!

Kaela & Derek

Kaela and Derek had a beautiful August wedding at Hope South in Fargo. Kaela surprised everyone by singing to Derek during the ceremony – it was a wonderful moment. There were lots of tears during her song!

The weather was great for outdoor photos and we had a lot of fun at Island Park. We had a fun moment with Kaela and some unsuspecting tennis players by convincing them to pose for a photo.

It was a great day, Kaela and Derek!

Q2 2010 WPJA Awards

More awards for Dave and Britta! On the heels of our [AG]WPJA wins last week, we learned we had four more images place in the most recent WPJA contest. Britta basically owned the Kids (Being Kids) category!

Here’s a little background on the contest: The WPJA consists of over 1,800 wedding photojournalists from around the world and not just any photographer can get it, you must apply and be accepted. Their were over 10,000 images entered in the latest contest which the judges narrowed to 140 place winners in seven categories. The contest was judged by some of the most well-known and award-winning photojournalists and editors in the country.

Among those 140 place winners from 10,000 images by 1,800 photographers Britta and Dave had four place winners. I’ve mentioned it before but I’ll say it again: We’re really proud that we’re able to make these international, award-winning images right here in North Dakota and Minnesota. No mountains, no 500-year-old cathedrals and no tropical locations – just great clients that allow us to make great images.

Our hard work places us in the top 10 in the world for the number of WPJA awards we’ve earned, imagine what we can do on your wedding day!

Dave placed in the top 10 of the Getting Ready category with this image of a bridesmaid relaxing before Kelly and Tom’s wedding.

As I mentioned, Britta rocked the Kids (Being Kids) category by having three images place in the top 20. This image of a ring bearer from Sara and Rick’s wedding snapping a photo placed seventh.

Two places behind at ninth is this photo of Jeanmarie trying to give a ring bearer a kiss before her wedding to Preston.

Rain didn’t stop Ame and Sean’s wedding at all and it made for a great image of these boys attempting to catch rain drops.
